Over the Hill Party Games

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

These two Over the Hill party games are sure to keep the guests interested and having fun while at your party.

The first game is called ‘Analysis’ and is meant to get an idea of what’s been bothering the guest of honor lately. Surely it can’t be the thought of being over the hill, but this whole party is dedicated to the idea.

Have the guest of honor lie down on the couch and let each guest take turns firing psychoanalytical questions at him or her. These can be questions like, ‘What was your most embarrassing dream?’ and ‘How do your feel about being another year older?’ Then the guest of honor has to answer the questions truthfully. Do this for about ten minutes then have each of the players outline their diagnoses of what they think could be wrong with the guest of honor. You can all vote and give a best to the best one. Be sure that you have a very easy going guest of honor at the Over the Hill Party before you try this game.

The next game is a fun and easy ‘Name Ripple’ game that you can use at the Over the Hill parties of those well into their golden years. Have everyone get into a circle. They can be sitting or standing. Then start the game by calling out your own name and raising your hands in the air in a cheer. Then the person next to you repeats your name and raises their hands and the person after them and so on until the cheer gets back to you and you raise your hands and call out your name once more. Then the person next to you calls out their own name and raises their hands in a cheer to be ‘rippled’ through the rest of the group until it returns to them. The goal is to keep the cheer going around the circle, even as names change, without faltering until everyone has had a chance to be named.
