Dance Parties for Active Guests

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

If the guest list for an upcoming birthday, engagement or any social occasion is the sort that just can't seem to sit still then a dance party might suit them. Paper party goods with the favorite dance theme can reflect well on a hostess who wants to throw a party with more than sedentary prospects.

Any kind of music and dance is just the right entertainment to keep guests from getting bored with an otherwise dull party. Dances from the bunny hop to the latest club scene gyrations are fine as long as most of the guests enjoy the chosen musical format. When the guest list is varied, as with birthday parties for young children, then choosing the right dance form can be trickier. Finding music and dance that is mild enough for children without being boring for teens is a skill. Develop the DJ within and plan for that special occasion.

Dance parties will require lots of cold beverages as there will be thirsty dancers. The traditional high school dance once had a glass punch bowl full of cold refreshments. The bowl might be okay but glass cups can be a needless hassle and there's never enough with the standard set. It's still best to buy dance themed paper cups and napkins even when using the punch bowl.

For a dance party it is best to keep the foods fairly simple. Hors d'oeurves or cookies served on small dance themed paper plates and cocktail napkins are probably all that anyone will want to eat. A few vegetable or cheese platters will make a nice addition to these and canned beverages kept on ice would be convenient.

Assign someone to the job of maintaining the CD's and stereo equipment if a band or DJ aren't hired. Then dance until dawn!
